ŠKODA POWER WINS TURBINE SUPPLY CONTRACT IN TURKEY, 12/07/2011
Škoda Power, part of Doosan Power Systems, has won a contract for the delivery of a 320 MW steam turbogenerator set, for a 900 MW combined cycle power plant based on two GE gas turbines in Erzin, Hatay province, Turkey. The Erzin power plant will be producing electricity using modern combustion technologies which meet European emissions standards. The future operator is Turkish company Akenerji Elektrik Uretim AS, whose shareholders include Czech utility CEZ. Commissioning of the turbine and that of the entire project is planned for the second half of 2014. Turkey has recently become a very successful market for Škoda Power. Currently there are, in various stages of implementation, four projects in Turkey including eight Škoda Power turbines with the total output of 1,270 MW. In 2007 a 40 MW turbine was commissioned at Erdemir power plant, and from 1985 to 1995 Škoda Power also supplied six 165 MW steam turbines and engine hall equipment to Soma power plant.
