Laser Scanning
Laser Scanning is typically used as part of our award winning range of Design and Constructability reviews. These reviews which bring together a complimentary package of technologies and services such as analysis and modelling, and animation skills are utilised to maximise the value of our services to our customers.
We deploy our Laser Scanning technology to allow accurate capture of as-built plant details in most industrial environments. Data is acquired on-site using a high definition laser with up to 100m range. This process of data capture is remote and non-invasive, meaning inspection can take place while the plant is in operation and data can be captured in areas normally off-limits or difficult to access.
Data is captured as a 3D point cloud during the Laser Scanning process. The point cloud represents the true position and shape of an object where the laser reflects from the surface. Accurate positional measurements can then be acquired directly from this information.
Several scans of one area can be merged to create a virtual environment. This can then be processed to produce a 3D model, virtual animation or 2D drawings.
