What really attracted me to Doosan Babcock was the number of opportunities available. Coming from a mixed background, graduating in 2005 with a BSc Hons Manufacturing Engineering and Marketing degree at Strathclyde University, I wanted to join an organisation where I could have the freedom to try different things - both engineering and commercial, but always with a strong focus on professional development.
My time with Doosan Babcock so far has fulfilled those expectations. My experiences range from working with Client Account Managers developing relationships with our major accounts in the UK to supporting the company's Business Planning activity to being involved in the shutdown and outage at Tilbury Power Station. There have been many steep learning curves which have been instrumental in my personal and professional development, plus support is always available. I have also received continuous supervisory and management training as well as the support to reach Chartered Status with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
To get orientated, every graduate is welcomed with a week long induction where they will have the opportunity to meet with other graduates and get an introduction to the company and scheme. This is reinforced with an annual graduate conference and periodic graduate forums and nights out throughout the year. This is a great way to share your experiences and form some solid friendships, all the more comforting when you enter a completely new environment.
With the organisation's global presence, every graduate has the opportunity to take an overseas assignment - U.S.A, India, Europe - only a handful of examples, the opportunity is there if you want to take it. I hope to utilise this advantage, and as the organisation continues to grow, I look forward to being part of it.
