The Lisbjerg plant will provide heat and almost 40MW of electric power to meet the demands of 65,000 households in the region. In doing so, it will also contribute to the city of Aarhus’ efforts to reduce its carbon footprint through the extensive use of bio-fuels.
Biomass, which is considered carbon-neutral, plays an important role in Denmark’s energy and climate policy. The Lisbjerg plant will help the local region reduce CO2 emissions by 250,000 tons and enable secondary utilisation of combustion residues, which are recycled into fertilizer. Doosan Škoda Power will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of the turbine and accessories.
Since 1969, Doosan Škoda Power has supplied almost 750MW of installed power capacity in turbines designated for Danish CHP power plants.
