History

From humble beginnings to the global leader it is today, Doosan has always had a vision for the future

History

The foundations of Doosan were established in 1896, when Park Seung – Jik opened a small store in Seoul, South Korea. With what became known as Korea’s first modern store, the company progressed to selling cosmetics in 1915.

It wasn’t however until 1925 that Doosan took its name. As Park Seung-jik’s successor; Too Pyueng Park began running the business, he took the company to the status of corporation in 1952 by forming OB ( Oriental Breweries ).

Moving forward through the next decade, Doosan’s portfolio expanded to include: food, beverages, media, cultural businesses and importantly; machineries and construction.

Fast forward to 2010 and the formation of Doosan Power Systems. Leveraging the power of parent company Doosan Heavy Industries’ manufacturing heritage and securing Doosan Skoda Power for its excellence in turbine design and manufacture, Doosan Power Systems incorporates Doosan Babcock – a British source technology company for the power industry.

In November 2011 we acquired a 99.1% stake in AE&E Lentjes GmbH. Based in Ratingen near Dusseldorf, the business has been renamed Doosan Lentjes GmbH and the company’s 220 employees have been integrated into our Boiler business unit.

With a combined engineering history of over two hundred years of technical innovation, Doosan Power Systems has built a strong energy proposition on the strength of our experience and acquisitions; and we now offer a complete range of integrated energy solutions for our customers.
